Brownie points for the best Keswick Live Advent Window

A competition to find the best Keswick Live Advent Calendar illuminated window was judged by visitors to the event's Facebook page to be Window No. 22 at Cotswold Outdoor Keswick.  The window - a wintry scene with a wise old owl looking out onto Market Square - was designed by 3rd Keswick Brownies.

Opening the Live Advent Window 22 was a perfect event; not only the lighting of the wonderfully illuminated window, but the pop-up carol concert in Cotswold Outdoor Keswick store from the children from Keswick Out of School Club could not fail to put anyone in a festive mood!

Rachel Kearns, Cotswold Outdoor "We are very proud to be involved with this community event. It's the 2nd year of the 'Live Advent' and we got involved last year as well. We're all about supporting local groups and events. So when Helen Smith from the 3rd Keswick Brownies and Debbie Edginton from the Out of School Kids Club said they would decorate our window, sing carols and serve up festive treats we were chuffed and now, thanks to them, we've won the trophy too!! We had a very popular 'Ruffwear Winter Walks and Wags' before the main event and we're already planning and looking forward to our 2016 Keswick Live Advent. 'Any applications to get involved in 2016 very welcome."

The 2nd Keswick Live Advent Calendar event, organised by Keswick Tourism Association and Allerdale Borough Council, managed to continue throughout the December storms and the #spiritofcumbria shone through the resulting illuminated windows and wonderful festive events.

Almost the entire 24 day calendar was completed with live pop-up concerts, magical story telling; drama; talks, Christmas food and drink demonstrations, not to mention crafty workshops with beautifully illuminated windows staying lit until 4th January 2016 to form a festive window trail to follow.

The windows were the focal point for many visitors' photographs on social media which meant Keswick's town centre looked bright and light during that dreadful month for Cumbria.
A small trophy was presented to Cotswold Outdoor Keswick to display in their window for the 2016 Keswick Live Advent Calendar, plus a rather large box of chocolates for the Keswick Brownies to share!
